ABOUT FIRST KIDS PRESCHOOL

First Kids Preschool strives to nurture each child’s individuality and innate curiosities in a loving, Christian environment. Our goal is to instill a desire for lifelong learning as we prepare preschoolers for kindergarten and the world beyond.

Our Philosophy
We believe that each child is unique, and we do our best to nurture the intrinsic God-given gifts that each one brings and shares with us. We also believe that what truly makes a difference in a child’s life, beneath the method, materials, and curriculum, is a teacher who cares about each child and who teaches from the heart.

Toddlers and preschool children all learn best by “doing.” They are active learners who gain knowledge by acting directly on and with concrete objects. Through these actions, they can draw conclusions about their world. Within our daily classroom routine, we have many hands-on activities and projects designed to be stimulating and fun for your child. It is exciting to watch our toddlers and preschoolers as they tirelessly experiment and investigate the world.

21 MONTHS thru 2-YEAR-OLD CLASS

Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

Our fluid routine allows children many opportunities to:
  • Explore a variety of art media
  • Enjoy sensory experiences
  • Participate in music and movement activities
  • Read new stories as well as their old favorites
  • Run, climb, and play in the gym or on the playground
  • Learn about God’s great love for each one of us

21 MONTHS thru 2-YEAR-OLD CLASS

Primary Caregivers provide a safe haven as your child learns how to separate from mom and dad as well as how to function in a group, two very important developmental tasks. We provide many opportunities for our toddlers to explore their world within a safe and loving environment.

3, 4 AND 5-YEAR-OLD CLASS

Classes meet Monday through Friday

Children in this class enjoy daily experiences in:
  • Art
  • Music
  • Fine and Large Motor Work
  • Math
  • Literacy
  • Science
  • Handwriting

3 YEAR-OLD CLASS

We embrace purposeful play and exploration to help children develop skills in cooperative play, listening, following directions, self-help, and communicating their needs with their developing language. Our daily lessons include early literacy and math activities.  We provide many opportunities for our toddlers to explore their world within a safe and loving environment.  Children may attend 2, 3, or 4 days per week.

4 YEAR-OLD CLASS

We prepare children for the transition to Kindergarten through purposeful play and exploration, continuing our focus on early literacy, math, fine motor skills and handwriting, communication, and the self-help skills necessary for kindergarten.  Children may attend 3, 4 or 5 days per week.

YOUNG FIVES CLASS

Our Young 5’s program is a full week, half day program designed for students who meet the age requirement for kindergarten but would benefit from an extra year of learning and growth. It is also open to students who will be turning five between September 1st and December 31st. This program works to provide a small classroom community where students work towards social, emotional and academic readiness for kindergarten. Our Young 5’s curriculum is very similar to our 4’s curriculum but works at a more accelerated rate. It includes content such as language, early literacy, math, handwriting, music, physical education, science, social studies, social/ emotional development and lots of play.

ENRICHMENT CLASSES

We offer Afternoon Enrichment Classes which include:

MUSIC FOR ALL

Your child’s regular classes include music once or twice a week with, Ms. Marie, a former Gymboree teacher.

Marie Bonello has a bachelor’s in history and music history and a master’s in music education from U of M. She taught K–6 vocal music for years before staying home with her daughters. She later taught Gymboree classes for ten years and led Girl Scouts.
She and her husband, Ken, and have two daughters. She enjoys being involved in a music organization, serving on our HOA board, and relaxing at her cottage in Lexington. The children at First Kids Preschool bring me so much joy!
